Pastel Blooms — A Dendritic Opal Necklace in Sterling Silver

Shifting Shades.

I fell in love with this Dendritic Opal immediately. The stone starts from a plummy purple undertone at one end and transitions to a warm peachy undertone at the other. A unique, and I must admit, an unusual color pattern for one of these Opals.

The pendant is about 0.8 inches tall including the bail, by about 1.5 inches wide. It hangs from an 18 inch shiny sterling silver tube and cable chain and fastens with an oval lobster clasp in the back. The chain can not be removed from this one and switched out for others.

This piece is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.

Do not submerge this necklace in liquid, as a haziness will form over time behind the stones.
