Hidden Scenes #1 — A Petrified Blue Wood Opal Ring — Size 8 3/4

Another bold and beautiful natural blue opalized wood, petrified for millennia. It’s difficult to imagine this here was once part of an ancient tree.

The ancient veining in this petrified tree offers deep indigo hued striations. Wrapped in fine silver, and set on sterling silver. Almost as if it were hidden, until light shines from behind, little hand sawed fishy swims amongst the reeds (the “reed-like” striations being the natural patterns in the opal). 

This stone has been wrapped in fine silver and set on hand sawed recycled silver, this ring is set on a wide sterling silver band. 

As a reminder, please no submerging my jewelry in liquids, as refraining from doing so will prolong the silvers’ luster, and will dull the effect of the hidden image over time.

This ring would best fit a size 8 3/4.

The face of the ring is 0.6 inches in diameter, and the band of the ring measures 0.3 inches wide.

This is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
