Hidden Scenes #3 — A Pair of Blue Opalized Wood Dangle Earrings in Oxidized Sterling Silver

Another for the Hidden Scenes Collection. Incorporating bold and beautiful natural blue opalized wood, petrified for millennia. It’s difficult to imagine this here was once part of an ancient tree. 

The ancient veining in this petrified tree offers deep indigo hued striations. Wrapped in oxidized fine silver, and set on oxidized sterling silver. Almost as if it were hidden, until light shines from behind, little hand sawed fishies swim amongst the reeds (the “reed-like” striations being the natural patterns in the opal). 

These stones measure 0.5 inches wide by 1.3 inches in length. The total drop of the earring, including the oxidized sterling silver leverback is 2 inches.

These earrings incorporate recycled silver, as my other pieces and were completed by my hand, using no power tools or harsh chemicals in the process.

As a reminder, please no submerging my jewelry in liquids, as refraining from doing so will prolong the silvers’ luster.
