Corn Fields — A Pair of Green Jasper Dangle Earrings in Shiny and Oxidized Sterling Silver

I’d like to think that New England offers some of the best summer’s corn there is.

At first glance of this pair of Green Jaspers they jumped out at me, little ears of corn in stone. …. Although, perhaps you see rolling green fields on a clear summers day.

These have been wrapped in fine silver and backed on sterling, then oxidized using a eco-friendly method. Very subtle and slight accents in fine silver and 14kt gold flank the sides of the stones. Perhaps giving the idea that these might be miniature ears of corn.

These hang from shiny sterling leverback ear wires.

They measure 2 inches in total length from top of the ear wire to the bottom of the earring. The stones measure approximately 1.05 inches tall by 0.6 inches wide.

This pair has been oxidized. And please note because I use an environmentally friendly, and old style of oxidation, the dark oxidation colors may and will be uneven. Rather than a solid color, many deep colors come out in this process such as cobalt blues, deep purples and stormy grays. — All another benefit of using non-harsh patina techniques, you get a true oxidization effect.

This piece is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
