Ancient Seas — Dangle Earrings in Oxidized Sterling Silver and 14kt Gold

Buried in some ancient muddy waters long before Man. Not quite the ammonite fossil itself, but the pyritized ammonite fossil negative. In other words, where the ammonite creature last rested on the ocean floor over 66 million years ago after the extinction in the Jurassic Age. The iron pyrite mineral built up under the ammonite shell for millions of years. Giving us this brilliant shiny imprint of gold, royal blue and bronze hues mingling together.

I have taken these ancient reminders and set them in fine silver, backed on sterling, and have oxidized it using a non-jewelers chemical method. The colors, aged imperfectly as silver does naturally over time in our World.

Mismatched, with one side holding a tourmaline, the other side finished with a 14kt Gold accent. This pair finishes with hand formed ear wires.

As reminder, please no swimming, bathing or heavy exercise with these earrings. They are fossils after all. Please no polishing or buffing as that will remove its lovely oxidation.

Widest point on the earrings is 0.55 inches. The front total length from the top of the ear wire about 2.1 inches. The back ear wire length is 2.4 inches.
