Ember Shards — A Pair of Swinging Fossilized Coral Earrings in Oxidized Sterling Silver

In different light, at different times of day, these Swinging Fossilized Coral Earrings really do remind me of some Embery Stained Glass Window Panes.

Red hued fossiled corals have been wrapped in fine silver and backed on sterling. Hand cut tube bails and ear wires allow these to swing from side to side on your ear as you move.

This pair has been oxidized. And please note because I use an environmentally friendly, and old style of oxidation, the dark oxidation colors may and will be uneven. Rather than a solid color, many deep colors come out in this process such as cobalt blues, deep purples and stormy grays. — All another benefit of using non-harsh patina techniques, you get a true oxidization effect.

These stones measure 1.4 inches from top to bottom and are approximately 0.55 inches across. Total front length is 2.1 inches. Total length of the back of the ear wire is 2.7 inches.

This piece is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
