Growing up in New England, I have engrained into my mind and heart these treasured masterpieces of old. Maritime Paintings bearing stormy and wispy brushstrokes, filled with the deep colors of the ocean, displayed on Museum walls, and up for individual interpretation.
This Blue Mountain Jasper; a wonder built by the hand of Mother Nature and reminiscent of a classic which may hang in a Museum. With its stormy seas, I can almost picture the magnificent Clipper Ship with its billowing sails about to come into view.
A piece of art in its own right surely to tug at the Heart of anyone who may appreciate Maritime Art.
This piece has been wrapped in fine silver and backed on hand textured sterling silver. I have oxidized this piece, using my slow method. An honest and true way to draw out natural oxidation colors, providing deep smokey hues. Most importantly of all, this is a natural and environmentally friendly way of oxidation, without employing the use of traditional and fast acting jewelers chemicals.
14kt Gold accents flank the side of the pendant, while being suspended from a modern style oxidized sterling silver paper clip chain. This piece finishes with an oversized oval lobster clasp in the back. Because of the nature of the chain and the clasp, this necklace does allow for some adjustment (shortening), from its 19” chain length.
The pendant sizing is approximately 1.55 inches tall by 1.05 inches wide.
This is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.
The old fashioned way.
Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
** PLEASE NOTE: I can not make changes to sizing, chain lengths, or oxidation preferences once a piece is complete; I am not set up to do so. How my items show here is the final product. Because of my power tool-free ways, and lack of traditional jewelers chemicals in my process, this piece is sold as you see it here. **
