Hidden Scenes — Deep Sea Dive; A Petrified Blue Wood Opal Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

Another bold and beautiful natural blue opalized wood, petrified for millennia. It’s difficult to imagine this here was once part of an ancient tree.

The ancient veining in this petrified tree offers deep indigo hued striations. Wrapped in fine silver, and set on sterling silver. Almost as if it were hidden, until light shines from behind, a hand-sawed jellyfish swims amongst the reeds (the “reed-like” striations being the natural patterns in the opal). 

This naturally blue green petrified wood opal has been wrapped in fine silver and is on a backplate of sterling. I have hand sawed and filed the back scene, which comes to view when light shines behind the pendant. 

This stone measures 1.4 inches in length by 0.9 inches in diameter at the widest. The sterling silver bar and link chain has an oversized clasp in the front and is approximately 19 inches in length.

This piece incorporates recycled silver as my other pieces, and was completed by my hand, using no power tools or harsh chemicals in the process.

As a reminder, please no submerging my jewelry in liquids, as refraining from doing so will prolong the silvers’ luster. These petrified wood opals should be treated gently, so please refrain from exercising, sleeping or bathing while wearing this piece.
