Deep Earth — A Pair of Astrophyllite Drop Earrings in Oxidized Silver and Gold

Astrophyllites…. Quite rare and quite sought after by many collectors.

It always takes time getting my hands on this raw-faced beauties; Lovingly mismatched so. The flashy stripes of bladed minerals on the raw surface shining back at you in the light.

Wrapped in a gold filled bezel and set on sterling, then naturally oxidized using a non-chemical method, this pair is completed with hand formed oxidized Sterling Silver Wires.

These earrings have been oxidized using a time consuming non-toxic method, one that offers not a uniform, but varying degrees of dark and smoky hues. I strive to create my oxidized pieces to come as close as possible to looking as if they were truly oxidized over a long period of time.

Length in Front — 1.4 inches

Length In Back — 2.7 inches

Weight per Earring — 2.7 grams

Like all of my others, these have been created using recycled silver, and has been fashioned using all hand tools only and no harsh chemicals.
 
These are handmade and one of a kind. I have created these in an eco-friendly manner — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.
