Buried in some ancient muddy waters long before Man. Not quite the ammonite fossil itself, but the pyritized ammonite fossil negative. In other words, where the ammonite creature last rested on the ocean floor over 66 million years ago after the extinction in the Jurassic Age. The iron pyrite mineral built up under the ammonite shell for millions of years. Giving us this brilliant shiny imprint of gold, royal blue and bronze hues mingling together.
I have taken this ancient reminder and set it in fine silver, backed on hand textured sterling, and have oxidized it using a non-jewelers chemical method. The colors, aged imperfectly as silver does naturally over time in our World.
Textured Sterling Silver, as well as oxidized sterling silver and 14kt Gold accents surround the piece.
The diameter of the pendant is 1.4 inches wide by 1.5 inches in height including the bail. This finishes with a 18 inch sterling silver oxidized link and bar chain with a large oval lobster clasp in the back. — The chain can not be switched out on this piece because of the nature of the bail.
As reminder, please no swimming, bathing or heavy exercise with this ring. Please no polishing or buffing as that will remove its lovely oxidation. — This is a Fossil; Mother Nature’s original Art. Please treat this piece as such.
Please note because I use an environmentally friendly, and old style of oxidation, the dark oxidation colors may and will be uneven. Rather than a solid color, many deep colors come out in this process such as cobalt blues, deep purples and stormy grays. — All another benefit of using non-harsh patina techniques, you get a true oxidization effect.
** PLEASE NOTE: I can not make changes to sizing, chain lengths, or oxidation preferences once a piece is complete; I am not set up to do so. How my items show here is the final product. Because of my power tool-free ways, and lack of traditional jewelers chemicals in my process, this piece is sold as you see it here. **
