Autumn in New England — A Petrified Wood Pendant Necklace in Oxidized Sterling Silver and Solid 14kt Gold

This autumnal pendant; a gentle reminder of the changing seasons.

Wrapped in fine silver and set on sterling, this piece had been oxidized using a natural time consuming method. Because of this old style of oxidation, the dark oxidation colors may and will be uneven. Rather than a solid color, many deep colors come out in this process such as cobalt blues, deep purples and stormy grays. — All another benefit of using non-harsh patina techniques, you get a true oxidization effect.

The face of the pendant is about 1.85 inches tall including the bail, by about 0.8 inches wide. It hangs from an 18 inch oxidized sterling silver cable chain and fastens with an oversized oval lobster clasp. Please note this chain is fixed to the pendant and can not be removed.

This piece is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
