Swimming the Reefs — An Australian Pipe Opal in Sterling Silver and 14kt Gold — Size 6 3/4

Part teardrop, part triangle, and set at a jaunty angle. This Australian Pipe Opal offers what appears to be a miniature view of an underwater coral reef. Being partially transparent adds to its mystique.

Wrapped in fine silver and set on sterling silver. The ring band is a combination of a thin smooth sterling band and a thin textured sterling band, and is joined to the base of the ring independently of one another. The stone is flanked with an accent of 14kt Gold.

The face of the stone is approximately 0.6 by 0.6 inches. The band would best fit a size 6 1/2 to 6 3/4.

This is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.

Please no not submerge this ring in water, as a cloudiness will form behind the stone over time.
