Solar Eclipse — A Dendritic Agate Landscape Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

The totality of a solar eclipse; such a sight that no camera lens can truly capture its majesty. Here is my representation in stone and silver.

Wrapped in a fine silver bezel and set on a sterling silver backplate. Behind the stone peeks through a hand etched solar eclipse, on a naturally oxidized background.

This piece was oxidized using a traditional, time consuming, non-chemical method bringing forth natural deep and smoky oxidization colors. 

The face of the pendant is about inches 1.1 tall including the bail, by about 0.7 inches wide. It hangs from an 18 inch shiny sterling doubled cable chain and fastens with a sterling toggle clasp. — Please note the chain on this pendant is not removable because of the size of the toggles. 

This piece is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner using recycled silver — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.

Do not submerge this necklace in liquid, as a haziness will form over time behind the stone.
