Scales of the Dragon — A Black Ethiopian Opal Ring in Sterling Silver and 14kt Gold — Size 7

The natural honeycomb-like pattern within this Ethiopian Black Opal is phenomenal. Bringing back memories of reading fairytale stories as a young girl, the pattern within this opal, like a Dragons’ Scales.

Wrapped in fine silver and set on sterling, a single solid 14kt gold prong further draws the warm tones out of the opal. Set on a modern “rounded square” sterling silver band. 

This ring would best fit a size 7.

The face of the ring is 0.45 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall.

This is handmade and one of a kind. I have created this in an eco-friendly manner — from hand with no harsh jewelers chemicals and no power tools.
The old fashioned way, using recycled silver.

Thus, it has taken me a considerable amount of time compared to using other modern jewelry techniques. Therefore, file marks, as well as asymmetries are all part of the hand-fashioned process.
